What is Conflict

War_Within.jpgConflict!!  The starting point of change or the pathway to destruction?  The outcome depends entirely on the levels of self awareness of the individuals or parties concerned.  The fight is hardly ever about the fight – it is usually about the battle within ourselves.  If we can cultivate conscious conflict strategies within ourselves – we can master anything.

Our world is filled with conflict, from our personal lives, to our places of work, into our communities and across borders.  Whether it is, fights within families, power battles with parents and children, continuous dramas or cycles of abuse with a spouse or partner, bad vibes between colleages, cannot stand a boss, won’t tolerate a subordinate, unable to function within a team, intolerance towards neighbours, road rage or violence towards people of a different race or religion – it has and will always be there.  Conflict is normal and it is necessary!

When communicated effectively it can be a healthy, meaningful, and purposeful part of our lives which accelerates not only our own personal growth but the growth of an organisation, a community and even a country.

An “effectively communicated conflict” leaves all parties feeling empowered, uplifted, motivated, connected, peaceful and inspired.

A badly communicated conflict leaves all parties feeling angry, disrespected, disempowered, resentful, in turmoil and worst of all revengeful.

Sadly, through badly learned conflict techniques, the vast majority of us are just not equipped to handle even the simplest of conflicts, hence the world is in a state of continuously destructive conflict and ongoing turmoil.
